Arrival Information

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) was certified for operation in May 1983 and consistently has outpaced all projections for its growth. The airport now serves more than 5 million passengers annually. It ranks among the 60 busiest airports in the nation and well above the national average for both historic and projected growth.

Southwest Florida International Airport' 381,000-square-foot, two-level terminal complex (link to terminal map) is designed for passenger comfort and convenience.

A collection of regional shops offers local, specialty-food and gift items, golf equipment and apparel, collectibles, souvenirs and sundries. Dining options include national favorites such as Burger King, California Pizza Kitchen ASAP, Chili's Too, Cinnabon, Edy's, Pizza Hut Express, Starbucks Coffee and "TCBY" Treats/Juice Works.

Car rental service counters, automatic teller machines, pay phones and a U.S. Postal Self-Service Center are located conveniently within the terminal, along with a golf reservations center, near the PGA TOUR Shop, that allows travelers to book tee times on area courses. A public business center, located on the second level in the center of the terminal and open 24-hours a day, provides telephones, fax and copy machines, a FedEx Shipping Site, TDD telephones and room to catch up on paperwork. Travelex, which is also located in the business center, offers currency exchange services as well as Western Union, money orders, US Travelers checks, calling cards and other services during scheduled business hours. The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau staffs information booths to provide travelers with directions and details about the area.

Short-term and long-term parking lots are located within walking distance of the terminal. A nearby economy lot provides another cost-efficient parking alternative and offers convenient shuttle service to the terminal.

Southwest Florida International Airport provides customs, immigration, public health and agricultural services to international flights. The Federal Inspection Station has the capacity to process 400 passengers per hour.

The Southwest Florida region includes popular holiday destinations that attract visitors from around the globe, helping to make it one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. The airport is located on Florida's Gulf coast and its air trade area, which includes Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties, is home to almost 900,000 year-round residents. Seventy-five miles of beaches, countless miles of shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico, a subtropical climate and a steadily diversifying economy contributed to the region's 39 percent population increase from 1990 to 2000. The city of Naples, which grew by 65 percent, had the second highest growth rate in the nation during the same period.
